Online session on "Copyright Litigation and Prosecution: Emerging Trends and Legal Challenges"

An online session on Copyright Litigation and Prosecution: Emerging Trends and Legal Challenges was organized by DPIIT-IPR Chair, Saurashtra University in collaboration with GUJCOST and IIC on 12th June,2026 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The programme aimed to guide participants about the growing challenges faced by creators, rights holders, and legal practitioners in protecting copyrighted works against unauthorized use, online piracy, and digital infringement.

The session highlighted recent developments in copyright litigation, including the increasing role of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and social media in copyright disputes. Particular emphasis was placed on the legal remedies available to copyright owners, such as injunctions, damages, and enforcement mechanisms under the Copyright Act.

The speaker also explained the prosecution of copyright infringement cases and the evidentiary challenges involved in proving unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and communication of copyrighted works. The discussion underscored the need for effective enforcement strategies to address emerging forms of infringement in the digital environment.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion on balancing the rights of creators with public access to information and technology. Participants gained a deeper understanding of contemporary copyright issues and the legal challenges associated with protecting intellectual property in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
