The DPIIT–IPR Chair at Saurashtra University has been established under the Scheme for Pedagogy and Research in Intellectual Property Rights for Holistic Education and Academia (SPRIHA), an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
The Chair serves as a center of excellence for Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) education, research, innovation, and capacity building. It aims to foster a robust culture of creativity, innovation, and intellectual property protection among students, researchers, faculty members, startups, and industry stakeholders.
Vision
To facilitate high-quality Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) education, research, training, and awareness, thereby strengthening India's innovation ecosystem and promoting responsible creation, protection, and commercialization of intellectual assets.
Objectives
- Promote IPR education at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
- Strengthen research and scholarship in intellectual property and emerging technology domains.
- Encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer.
- Support patent, trademark, copyright, and design filings.
- Develop collaborations with industry, academic institutions, and international IP organizations.
- Conduct seminars, workshops, conferences, training programs, and awareness campaigns on IPR.
- Create a knowledge repository and contribute to national IPR policy objectives.
